About the Recipe

I freaking love grapes.

Grapes are great for heart issues, rheumatism, arthritis, and gout. They are a diuretic, strengthen the kidneys and liver, and aide in the removal of toxins. The darker varieties are especially helpful in cases of anemia.

They pacify both Vata and Pitta constitutions, but the sour varieties can aggravate Pitta, so opt for darker & sweeter grapes if Pitta.

We have added a bit of cardamom to this drink to strengthen digestion. Cardamom is a cooling & mild herb which is exactly what your belly needs during the hot summer months. Cardamom is also highly sattvic, meaning, it promotes a calm and clear mind.

You can enjoy this drink chilled while lounging by the pool.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups red seedless grapes

  • 1/2 tsp cardamom (freshly ground)

  • 2 cups water (add more to desired consistency)

  • Juice of 1/4 lemon

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Strain the juice into a bowl or pitcher using a tight mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the grape skins. Press down/ squeeze the grape pulp to extract any extra juices.

  3. Serve in a glass and enjoy! Makes about 4 cups.
