1/2 cup of the mix, 5-10 minutes
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup coriander seeds
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp fennel seeds
½ tsp black peppercorn
½ tsp dry ginger powder
½ tsp cardamom powder, freshly ground
DIRECTIONS
Dry roast the seeds in a medium saucepan over medium heat until aromatic (2-3 minutes).
Remove from heat and add to a spice grinder (or coffee grinder) with the ginger powder, cardamom powder, and black peppercorn.
Grind into a uniform powder.
To make into a drink: bring 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of coconut milk (or non dairy milk) to a boil, add 1 tsp of kashaya mix, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp coconut sugar or cane sugar (or you can add raw local honey once it is cool enough to drink), and a dash of turmeric.
Simmer for 1 minute. Turn off the heat and let the flavors infuse for a couple of minutes.
Strain through a fine mesh strainer and drink while warm.
Notes
This is a classic ayurvedic formula for coughs, colds, congestion, or when you just need more energy/ immunity.
This is also a great coffee replacement.
You can also use this to flavor food to aide in the digestibility of any meal.
