POMEGRANATE JUICE

2-3 cups juice


INGREDIENTS


  • Seeds from 1 medium pomegranate

  • 2 cups water (use 3 cups if your pomegranate is large)


DIRECTIONS


  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Strain through a fine mesh strainer, collecting the juice in a bowl or container, using a fork or the back of a spoon to press out the excess juice.

  3. Consume immediately or store in the fridge for 2-3 days.


Notes

  • Freshly squeezed pomegranate juice is a medicinal powerhouse in Ayurveda so I always get excited when it is in season.

  • It can be used for many things - hot flashes, hormonal disturbances (pomegranate is estrogenic), excess menstrual bleeding, wound healing, worms or parasites, inflammatory gut conditions, sore throat, coughs, congestion, bronchitis, and more.

  • A great addition for coughs, congestion, sore throat, and colds: add a pinch of freshly cracked black pepper and dry ginger powder to 1/2 cup of the fresh pomegranate juice and consume 3x a day or until symptoms subside.
