Makes 1/4 cup mix, 5 minutes, 30-45 minutes steeping time
INGREDIENTS
2 tbsp fennel seeds
3 tsp cardamom seeds
3 tsp cinnamon powder
1/4 tsp whole cloves
1/4 tsp black peppercorns
1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger (when making the tea)
DIRECTIONS
Add dry spices to a spice grinder/ coffee grinder (everything except the fresh ginger). Grind into a uniform powder.
TO MAKE TEA: Steep 1/2 tsp of spice mixture with 1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger per 1 cup of hot water covered for 30-45 minutes. If making 2 cups, steep 1 tsp of mixture with 2 cups hot water. Strain spices and consume warm, between meals. Option to serve with warm plant based milk. Consume 1-3 cups of tea per day or as directed. Always consult a healthcare professional before consuming tea, herbs, or diet change as these herbs may interact with medications and be inappropriate for certain conditions.
Notes
This is a quick chai mix for when you don't want to do the overnight steeping like the yogi tea recipe (although, I think the yogi tea recipe tastes better).
Best during the cooler months, use the CCF tea if pitta.
Can also be used as a digestive spice mix in sweeter recipes.
