SPRING CLEANSING SMOOTHIE

INGREDIENTS
1/2 large cosmic crisp apple, peeled & chopped
1/2 cup baby spinach OR 2–3 young dandelion leaves, chopped for a liver cleansing kick (choose SHORT dandelion leaves or your smoothie will be super bitter)
3/4 cup coconut water, room temperature (or water)
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1 large strawberry, chopped
1/8 tsp organic chlorella powder (optional, omit if vata and cross reference if on medications)
1/2 inch of fresh ginger, peeled & chopped
Dash of cinnamon powder
1/4 tsp raw honey
DIRECTIONS
Add all ingredients except honey to a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Pour into a glass and stir in honey. ENJOY!
Notes
This smoothie is designed to be balancing for all doshas, especially kapha and pitta in the spring time. It is also supportive to the liver and thyroid.
It is light, uplifting, refreshing and enhances digestion.
If sensitive to greens, omit them in this recipe and add extra apple and strawberries. This would make a more vata friendly smoothie.
Notice how there is no ice or ultra processed protein powder in this smoothie. That will deplete your digestion. If wanting an extra protein kick, you can use one of these protein powders - Herbal Protein Powder or One Ingredient Protein Powder - or just add more hemp seeds.
