ENERGIZING CACAO



1 serving, 5 minutes


INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp cacao powder

  • 1-2 tsp coconut sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 2 finger pinch of cardamom powder, freshly ground (or sub cinnamon powder, optional)

  • 1 cup hot water

  • 1-2 tsp coconut oil (adjust to taste)


DIRECTIONS

  1. Add the cacao, coconut sugar, and cardamom/ cinnamon powder to a mug with 1/4 cup of the hot water. Whisk until combined and a paste forms.

  2. Add the remaining amount of hot water and whisk in the coconut oil. Enjoy as a warm morning beverage.

Notes

  • Cacao does contain caffeine. If sensitive to caffeine, make sure you add the cardamom powder and reduce the amount of cacao powder - start with 1/2 tsp and increase as needed.

  • Cacao is very uplifting to the mind and body. It opens the heart, nourishes reproductive organs, relaxes the muscles, and is helpful for coughs.

  • Cacao can aggravate both vata and pitta. Have in moderation for these body types.

  • It is recommended to have cacao in moderation for everyone in general as Ayurveda considers it more of a medicine than a food, especially good quality cacao ;).
