STEWED APPLES

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 small apples, peeled and chopped

  • 1/2 cup rice milk (or any plant milk besides coconut milk)

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder

  • 1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg powder

  • 3 finger pinch of coconut sugar or 1 tsp maple syrup for sweetness

  • 1 tbsp of raisins (or chopped dates) - optional


DIRECTIONS

  1. Add all ingredients to a small pot over medium/ low heat. Simmer until apples are soft.

  2. Turn off the heat and gently mash the apples using a potato masher.

  3. Option to top with chopped nuts, coconut oil, or hemp seeds and option to sweeten with local raw honey or maple syrup.



Notes

  • Someone in the house is sick with the stomach flu or food poisoning and don't know what to make them? - stewed apples, healing turmeric kanjee, CCF tea (see recipes).

  • This is a classic Ayurvedic formula for those who are experiencing loose frequent bowel movements. It can be constipating, so this IS NOT for you if you have constipation.

  • You can stew any fruit using this same method, stewed apples just tend to have the stool binding effect which makes them great for diarrhea.
